Understanding our Video Post-production Process
Digital Bard has developed a three step, post production workflow that keeps you involved as your video develops and provides for you with a review point at each step.
Let’s take you through a tour of the editing and finishing stages of post-production and show you how we ensure quality and accuracy while bringing your video to life, often with award-winning results.
#1. Rough Draft
To develop your rough draft, we follow the project summary, outline, script and/or storyboard you approved in the pre-production stage. First, we comb through all of the raw footage to pull out the specific clips that moves the video towards its intended goal. We will then lay in a sample narration of the script and a selection of background music in order to begin display how the piece will flow and be woven together.
#2. Smooth Draft
In the next stage, we incorporate any revisions from the rough draft review point and begin to polish the piece. We refine the rough cuts into exact edits with appropriate transitions from shot to shot. Graphics are added and the professional voice over is recorded. Depending on what the project needs, other supporting visuals such as logos, images or PowerPoint slides are also added. This stage reveals the “mood” and style of the piece and displays how elements like graphics and animations help propel and enhance the video and narration.
#3. Final Draft
In this stage, we address any concerns that came up in the smooth draft review and complete the last bit of fine tuning necessary to make everything perfect. We also complete color and audio enhancements in order to prep colors and brightness to proper output specifications, and match color and audio levels between shots. There are no material changes introduced at this point, rather, it is a chance to see the project as it will be delivered and make any final tweak requests before it is considered complete and prepped for its intended output.
Once final approval is given, we move to the Master Output stage, where the mastered video files are created and delivered to you.
